"Lending a hand where it counts"
We were organized in June 2008 under the name Support Our Community, Inc., when four women who shared the same vision came together and through prayer, we were formed for charitable and educational purposes as stated in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
We received our IRS letter of determination as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization in July 2011. In July 2016 we changed our name to The Johnson Ruffin Foundation, Inc. as a memorial to two great men, Robert F. Johnson and Willie H. Ruffin, who would offer a hand to friends and acquaintances alike.

We are organized to come to the aid of those less fortunate; aid comes in many forms. Just because someone does not look like they are in need, does not mean they don't need a helping hand. There are people that go to work every day, but are still unable to put food on the table, afford a decent place to live or pay their bills.
